COVID-19 Response & The Tragedy of the Commons
Technology & knowledge management systems play a key role in transcending boundaries, transforming communities, and bringing people together. However, in times of crises, the role of such systems is more complex, complicated, and sometimes chaotic. The public health crises caused by COVID-19 not only impacted business operations and economic development but also created an environment of trust that can only be addressed using scientific and data-driven decision-making process. The long-term impact of COVID-19 is still unknown and might have a lasting impact. In an era of digital transformation, the response to COVID-19 was lacking. This might not be attributed only to misinformation or complacency, but also highlight a lack of readiness and preparedness. More surprising is the lack of knowledge and lesson learned from previous similar and related crises. In this presentation, we will discuss the role of technology and knowledge management system in dealing with crises in a complex environment.
